Logan and Abbey Shields were both born and raised in Utah and married there in 2009. One year later they moved to Nashville TN where they shortly after met Ray McKelvy and felt God was leading them to help plant what is now Christ For the Nations Church. Logan served as the Assistant Pastor from 2012 to 2015. Logan has a Bachelors of Biblical Studies and Intercultural Ministries from Moody Bible Institute and Abbey has a Certificate of Theology and Biblical Studies from Liberty University. They both felt the call of God to cross-cultural missions in their teen years and after waiting for the Lord's perfect timing moved to Porto, Portugal as missionaries with Avant Ministries in 2015. In 2017 they welcomed the birth of their first child, Ariella.
Their goal is to plant a healthy, reproducing, Portuguese led church. Portugal is a Post-Catholic society and 0.4% of the population is Evangelical Christian. The son of a Portuguese immigrant, Logan's heart was broken after learning the need of the Gospel in his mother's country.
